One important thing, if you take away anything from this podcast, is this, parenting an adopted child has the same two factors as any other type of parenting a child; you have a parent and a child. And we’re going to learn throughout this podcast that, when you’re parenting a child that was adopted at birth, the significant difference in parenting that child versus parenting a child that is biologically yours is going to be what you add in, not what you take away. One topic we have visited more than a few times, but I still feel it is relevant and needs to be addressed, is common misunderstandings surrounding adoption. And this is important because one of the podcast’s goals is to educate society and understand what’s true about adoption and what’s not. It would be. That’s a good term, a disservice because we must acknowledge that in an adoption process, in that journey, both the birth mother and the adoptive family can grieve. And I thought we would talk a little bit about that and what it looks like when they reach the final acceptance stage. So, a birth mother may encounter grief when she feels like her family and friends don’t support her adoption choice.
